Story

WATER PROJECT IN THE MEMORY OF ABDUL SHAKUUR

I would like to dedicate this project as Sadaqah e Jariyah for Abdul Shakuur who sadly passed away on 25 October 2020. Al-Fatiha*. May Allah elevate his ranks in Jannah. I have known him since a very young age and he had sadly passed away due to being involved in a tragic car accident. He was well known in the community for being a caring, respectable and honest man.

Unsafe water is the single biggest obstacle to the health of communities in the developing world. When people are denied access to clean water their hygiene and health suffer. Poor hygiene means children get sick and miss school. Small children are especially vulnerable to cholera and diarrheal illnesses, and unsafe water compromises their immune systems making it difficult for them to fight illnesses.

Our beloved Prophet peace be upon him said, The best charity is giving water to drink. (Ahmad)

With your help, we can bring clean water to rural communities in Azad Kashmir, giving them safe water for drinking, cooking and cleaning, water for their crops and animals, and the chance to break out of the poverty cycle.

Please help me raise £5,250 to gift one full Water Filtration Plant. This appeal ends on 30th November 2020.

Water extracted through cheaper methods such as hand pumps is often contaminated. It carries a lot of bacteria and is not always safe to drink putting lives at risk.

Compared to hand pumps, the construction of a Water Filtration Plant involves:

- Digging a bore up to 150ft deep to access clearer water

- A 10ft x 10ft room on the surface which contains the actual filtration plant that filters and cleans the water before it reaches the taps making it safe to drink

- Multiple taps on the outside so multiple people can access clean water all at the same time

Only Sadaqah, Lillah and general donations accepted for this project.

Please don't forget to add Gift Aid to your donations which will help with KORT's admin costs. This also ensures all funds raised go towards the cause.

As Zakat is not applicable for this project, any Zakat funds received through this appeal will be allocated to the orphans of KORT and other Zakat eligible projects of KORT.

Please donate generously.

Farhat Shah.
