Social distancing, video calls, remote working some of the phrases most of us have become extremely familiar with in the last few months due to the global pandemic.
Then there is a thing called TikTok, a social video app that allows users to share short videos. This app allows us to take a peek into the lives of families, couples, friends or those living alone. Looking at these videos its easy to believe in that behind closed doors there is fun, love and caring.
The truth is however that the increase of domestic abuse, since the lockdown, is at its highest in 11 years.
There are children, partners, elderly parents who don't have that few hours relief when they can feel safe in school, in work or at their friends or relatives; or when their abuser is in work. Instead now they are living in constant fear and danger with someone who has been abusing them sexually, physically or mentally and due to the current difficulties is likely to have increased stress & anxiety.
