WHISC plays a vital role in supporting women and families from across the Liverpool City Region, many of whom are vulnerable & in urgent need of assistance and intervention. Community donations provide a vital lifeline, helping to ensure that the women we serve get access to the support they need.

Story

This year instead of gifts and cards we are asking everyone to donate to our mental health services.

Womens Health Information & Support Centre (WHISC) is a volunteer-led charity based on Bold Street in Liverpool. WHISC is a grass roots organisation established in 1987 by a group of women who wanted more provisions in Merseyside for womens health and well-being. We work with vulnerable and marginalised women to combat severe depression and anxiety in creative and holistic ways. Originally a general women's health charity, due to the need, we have focused increasingly on relieving mental ill health and distress. Responding to a crisis in mental health care in Liverpool, we have been developing new ways to help women.

Our vision is to empower women with education, information & free counselling, as well as activities that combat isolation & marginalisation and support long term wellbeing. We believe all women should be respected and girls should grow up with high self-esteem, confidence and freedom from violence and loneliness. No one should experience barriers to getting the education, support and care they need for their optimum health. There should be equal access to services around health regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability status and residential status.

This year donate to our women and get your named bauble on our Christmas tree!
