White Horse Walk

Closes 31/12/2025

The Pembroke Centre is home to Wilton Riding for the Disabled Association. We are run predominantly by volunteers. We provide riding and equine therapy to nearly 300 children and adults from the local area on our 16 horses and ponies.

Story

This half term, a group of our dedicated volunteers are lacing up their walking boots and hitting the bridleways and footpaths of North Wiltshire. Over the course of three days, they’ll be walking more than 70km, linking seven of the region’s iconic White Horses—Alton Barnes, Pewsey, Marlborough, Hackpen, Broad Town, Cherhill, and Devizes. While our hardworking ponies enjoy a well-earned break, the team will be raising vital funds for the Pembroke Centre.

The route winds through open chalk downlands, where the weather can be unpredictable—so we’ll be hoping for sunshine and clear skies!

At the Pembroke Centre, our 19 amazing ponies help us deliver thousands of sessions every year to around 300 children and adults. These sessions provide therapeutic benefits and life-enhancing experiences for individuals with a wide range of needs, including physical and learning disabilities, autism, and dementia. We offer specialised therapies such as hippotherapy and yoga on horseback, designed to improve posture, movement, strength, and balance.

Operating the Centre costs approximately £100,000 a year, and we rely heavily on generous donations and the incredible commitment of our volunteers. Their support is absolutely essential, and we are deeply grateful for the time and energy they give.

Our ponies change lives in countless ways, and in return, we make sure they are exceptionally well cared for.
