As a charity we have big ambitions to enhance quality of care and patient experience.
Our two biggest projects are:
Transforming an unsafe, unused lightwell courtyard into a tranquil garden in the heart of our hospital. This space will harness the benefits of nature, plants, sounds, touch, and open space to enhance patient experiences in ways a ward environment cannot.
The garden will be a sanctuary - a place for reflection, socialising with family and friends, and connecting with nature. It will bring tangible, measurable improvements to patients and their families, potentially reducing hospital stays and improving outcomes. The primary focus is on patients living with dementia, but the garden will also benefit patients living with learning disabilities and those under the care of our critical care team.
And transforming the Children's Ward by funding new equipment and facilities that will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of patients, visitors and staff. We'll do this by:
Buying VR headsets to distract children when having procedures.
Designing a cohesive and age-appropriate ward environment.
Creating a teen pay for our older children to relax and reduce feelings of isolation.
Better facilities and support for parents and carers by having a high-quality bed in each room for visitors to stay overnight and comfort items to facilitate rest and relaxation.
We'd love you to host your own NHS big tea to help us support projects like these. If you don't have the time to run your own event you can leave a donation here.
