Summer Appeal for the Whitworth Centre

Organised by The Whitworth

The Summer Appeal is for one of the basics - the heating. The covid pandemic hit the Whitworth hard and its still on the mend. The boilers are past the point of repair and need some TLC. Can you chip in and help fix the Whitworth up for next winter?

The Whitworth is a Grade II listed building and park in Darley Dale, near Matlock. Endowed to the community in 1890 to the people of the town and nearby parishes for their recreation, leisure and education.

Story

The Whitworth sits at the heart of our community in Darley Dale. And it's here for everyone, forever.

The pandemic hit trade at the Whitworth very hard. Without income, saving for future capital costs has been impossible. Over the past 6 months lots of little improvements have been made, but we're on to the big ticket items now. The broken boilers and flues are now top of the 'to do' list.

This summer we are appealing for donations from local businesses, groups and the wider community to help replace the heating system.

We are delighted to have received support from Vaillant's Growing Communities scheme who donated the new heat pumps. With all the generous donations received we now need to raise just over £7,000 more for the remaining materials and installation costs.

With your help, by the autumn new equipment could be installed and all of the building could be heated for the first time in months.

All donations, however small, are important.

Donations made through this Appeal will be ring-fenced for the heating system upgrade and any unspent donations will be allocated to other maintenance projects in the future.

Thank-you to everyone who has donated so far!
