Story
The Whitworth sits at the heart of our community in Darley Dale. And it's here for everyone, forever.
The pandemic hit trade at the Whitworth very hard. Without income, saving for future capital costs has been impossible. Over the past 6 months lots of little improvements have been made, but we're on to the big ticket items now. The broken boilers and flues are now top of the 'to do' list.
As summer becomes autumn, this appeal is still open for donations from local businesses, groups and the wider community to help replace the heating system.
We are delighted to have received support from Vaillant's Growing Communities scheme who donated the new heat pumps. With all the generous donations received needed to raise just over £7,000 more for the remaining materials and installation costs, however we've learnt it could cost a further £3,000 to hire a temporary boiler to keep the hot water on while the boilers are switched over.
All donations, however small, are important and we appreciate every single one received so far.
Donations made through this Appeal will be ring-fenced for the heating system upgrade and any unspent donations will be allocated to other maintenance projects in the future.
Thank-you to everyone who has donated so far!
