Urgent Appeal for Why me?

Organised by Why me?

We need your help. There is a growing backlog of court cases, totalling a staggering 400,000 cases. Victims of crime are traumatised by the delay and by not having their voices heard. We need urgent core funds to help them access justice.

We want everyone affected by crime to be offered Restorative Justice – a transformative tool that brings harmed and harmer into communication. We increase access to Restorative Justice through impactful publicity; develop best practice to dismantle barriers; and campaign for a fairer justice system.

Story

Being a victim of crime is traumatising and life-changing, and victims are often left feeling excluded, confused and revictimized by the criminal justice process. This is only exacerbated when they have to wait months for their day in court.

The backlog for court cases in England and Wales has now reached a staggering 400,000 cases. These victims of crime are being ignored, and are not getting the justice they deserve.

Restorative Justice gives victims of crime a voice.

Why me? urgently need donations to bridge the gap in core costs over the next 5 months. This means we can continue to pay our key staff who champion and promote victims' rights and pay for suitable space where victim support meetings can take place.

Donate today to Why me?'s £30,000 appeal so that the charity can grow and flourish this year, and help more people affected by crime access Restorative Justice.

Janika's story

Janika suffered a violent knife attack at the hands of her former partner while she was pregnant. Miraculously she and her unborn baby survived. Janika's partner was convicted for attempted murder and remains in prison.

I had unanswered questions of why? running on a constant loop through my head. It was exhausting and debilitating.

Janika has chosen to share her story, to empower others to finally have their voices heard through Restorative Justice, in a system that is failing to provide this.

Donate today so we can support people like Janika to get the answers they deserve.
