Created in memory of WW1 & WW2 dead, this 1950's social centre is in need of re-roofing at a cost of ~£70k. Fundraising and grants have secured almost £60k but donations are required to make the £10k balance. Without this work the centre will soon be unfit for use and dangerous to the public.

Story

People need to meet people more than ever these days. We have all missed socialising and meeting with like-minded people, but our opportunities have been few.

Village halls, such as the Wickhambrook Memorial Social Centre, are places where communities can come together to exercise, play sports, learn new skills, create community events and foster a community spirit. Often people assume that such places will always be there when they want to use them, but unfortunately without good maintenance and strong leadership from the trustees this is not always the case. The trustees of the hall have done amazing work during the pandemic and over previous years have done much to improve the facilities for the benefit of all.

For several years it has been apparent that, despite the MSC being the social hub of the village, it is in need of some TLC. Much has been done to raise funds but the roof is now badly in need of repair after 70 years. Unless we can do something in the next few months, the problem will only get much worse over the winter, maybe even critical. Fundraising has been amazing but we still have a shortfall of £10,000.

Every little bit helps so please help us to be able to rebuild the community spirit in the village and give people fun, emotional support and energy by making your contribution and doing your part in keeping this vital local asset alive.
