Story

26/09/2022 - Thank you for your generosity in helping us to raise funds to aid those devastated by the flooding across Pakistan. We have now closed this appeal to send the last of the donations through to the Aga Khan Foundation, who continue their vital work to help those in need.

Update (05/09/22):

Funds being raised are supporting the emergency relief work of the Aga Khan Foundation and Aga Khan Development Network, who are on the ground in both north and south Pakistan.

Immediate relief efforts are focused on shelter, food and health. In the northern areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, where over 6,000 families have been displaced or evacuated, tents and blankets (or temporary accommodation where possible), food packages and medicine supplies are being provided.

In the south eastern province of Sindh, the Aga Khan Development Network is leveraging is health infrastructure and capacity to establish mobile medical camps, provide emergency medicine and treatments in AKDN facilities, while supporting government hospitals with human resources and training.

Wild Frontiers have had a strong relationship with the Aga Khan Foundation over many years. We are grateful to be able to support their disaster emergency work through the generous donations of our clients and friends.

Funds have also been allocated to help the Kalash, a minority pagan community and friends of Wild Frontiers for almost 25 years, to repair and rebuild their water channels. While relieved that the community is safe and well, the heavy rains damaged vital water channels and destroyed crops in the Kalash Valleys. Again, through your generosity, we are pleased to be able to provide much-needed support.

Appeal Launched (30/08/22):

As the news and shocking images continue to come out of Pakistan, we at Wild Frontiers are gathering information from our friends and partners in both the north and south of the country to determine how and who we can best support with disaster relief.

'The urgency is to raise funds now to get relief to those in need it as quickly as possible', says founder Jonny Bealby, who credits Pakistan as the birthplace of Wild Frontiers as an adventure travel company almost 25 years ago.

'Pakistan is close to our hearts. The people and the country have given us and our travellers so much over many years.'

Please help us to support the people of this inspiring and generous country at such a distressing time.

The Wild Frontiers Foundation has contributed an initial £1000 to the appeal. If you would like to help us reach our target of £10,000 please donate by clicking on the 'Give Now' button above.
