We believe in the power of outdoor adventure to change lives for the better
We'd love you to join us on a night of adventure because we believe that as a society we are spending too much time indoors which is adversely affecting wellbeing. We think the answer is to encourage and support each other to get outside and what better way than to set a date in the diary?
What's the problem?
Less and less people are getting outside. Only a third of children in Britain spend more than an hour a day outdoors, more than a third have never been camping. A quarter of UK adults are classed as physically inactive, getting fewer than 30 minutes of moderate exercise a week, including 14% who admit they get no exercise at all.
What's the solution?
The solution is to support and encourage each other to Get Outside. Spending time outside has been proven to help with mental health problems including anxiety and depression as well as the physical benefits to getting active. Its also FUN so whats holding you back?
Where Wild Night Out Comes In
It can be difficult to find time to get outside, so its helpful to save a date in the diary and plan with friends to get involved. A night of adventure is a call to your inner explorer. Who doesnt want more adventures in their lives? Its just that time, money and opportunity arent always there. So heres an opportunity to get involved, free of charge and it will fit into a weekend, or even just a night.
Join others across the nation in having a nocturnal adventure. Challenge yourself to try something new, get out of your comfort zone. Bring a friend and inspire others to get involved. We hold #WildNightOut2019 at the end of the Spring because we want to encourage you and your friends to continue having wild nights throughout the Summer and Autumn.
As a nation, we spend far too much time indoors. Wild Night Out is a time for us all to get outside - through whatever means - to experience nature afresh under the cover of darkness
#WildNightOut2019 is also raising awareness & funds to support The Youth Adventure Trust, a registered youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16. The charity provides an outdoors programme enabling them to experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations, develop the resilience to face the challenges in their lives and grow in confidence These courses tackle long term issues and help to promote healthy, happy futures
