We are participating in a “Wild Run” on Saturday 11th May to help raise money for a new forest school lodge to be built in our grounds at Wonersh and Shamley Green Primary School.

Are you wondering what Forest School is?

Forest Schools offer a unique educational experience using the outdoor environment of the forest/woodland as a classroom.

What are the benefits to children?

Research now backs up what forest school practitioners have known all along – that children and young people are stimulated by the outdoors and over time experience an increase in their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being.

How we see the Forest School Lodge being used?

The Forest School Lodge will help create practical, memorable learning opportunities, enhance our forest school experience, further add to all other subject areas and most importantly, is a space for wider personal development.

The children will be able to bring the outdoors indoors, so come rain, wind or shine the children can carry on with their forest school learning.

We would love to do more outdoor learning across the curriculum in KS2, ensuring that every child benefits from the forest school lodge.

The school is also desperate for more space where children can go to learn in small groups or have 1:1 sessions. This lodge will provide this and will be able to be used all year round.

Sports Stars UK provides breakfast, lunch and after school clubs in schools around Surrey and West Sussex bringing fun and fitness to children in a variety of different sports including gymnastics, dodge ball, cricket and many others. Holiday camps are only £30 per day (block booking) or £35 for a single day. A minimum of 3 specialist sports coaching sessions are provided each day plus lots more fun activities, drills and games. Open to ages 4-12.
