According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) every minute someone dies of Malaria. 96% of those deaths with be in Africa with 80% being young children. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/malaria
In the time it has taken to prepare this page in excess of 60 children will have died from this completely preventable disease. The mosquito which spreads malaria is most active between dusk and dawn when most children will be asleep, unaware of the danger that is around them.
Something as simple as a mosquito net hung over them while they sleep will prevent the vast majority of infections and deaths. Nothing lasts forever, and it is now 10 years since our last campaign to provide nets for children. Our health centre in the village is now reporting an increase in cases amongst the children so we need to act now.
Funds from this campaign will go towards purchasing 487 Mosquito nets and a blanket; even in Africa it gets cold at night. That's one for every child that attends our primary school. The children from Willingdon Primary School, Eastbourne will be skipping alongside, via a live video link, the children from Kabubbu Primary school, Uganda to help make this happen.
Please show your support for these wonderful children by giving generously, they will be skipping from 09:30 till 11:30 then 13:30 till15:00 UK time on Friday the 10th November, a total of 3 1/2 hours.
