Story
This winter, thousands of families in Liverpool will face the cold without enough good food. Rising costs mean that many households will rely on foodbanks, where standard parcels often lack the fresh food needed for a healthy diet.
The Winter Boost Project will change this.
We are raising funds to help supply 6 emergency food providers in Liverpool with good quality, fresh produce to include in their foodbank parcels – boosting nutrition and supporting health during the hardest months of the year.
How it works:
• You donate.
• Feeding Liverpool distributes the funds to the six emergency food providers.
• Each provider buys fresh fruits and vegetables locally.
• Each provider distributes the produce as part of their foodbank parcels.
• Families in crisis receive healthier parcels, improving both diets and wellbeing.
Our goal is £20,000, with every £5 donation providing one family with a foodbank parcel supplemented with enough fruits and vegetables.
Fresh food is not a luxury – it is a basic need. In Winter 2024, this project boosted 14,709 emergency food parcels with fresh fruits and vegetables, supporting a total of 9,785 people. This year, you can help Liverpool families eat well – even in a crisis.
Neil Atherton, ‘Bus Walker’, has explained why he will be donating to the Winter Boost Appeal:
I have been walking Liverpool’s bus routes to collect food and raise funds because, as a father, I believe no child should go to bed on an empty belly. In 2025, it is shocking that we have more foodbanks and pantries than McDonalds restaurants. Knowing that my donation is helping the Winter Boost Project and that families will have fresh fruits and vegetables in their parcels this winter is important because everyone should be able to get their 5-a-day. Sadly, in the current climate and with the cost-of-living crisis, many families in our region are not getting this. Thanks to Feeding Liverpool they can, which is why the Bus Walker is proud to support such a great cause.
Give to our appeal today and boost health, hope and dignity.
