Story
We're all preparing for a challenging winter this year, trying to stay safe and stay home where possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as keeping out of the bitter cold - but for billions of vulnerable people, this could be near impossible.
Home is not home for the 736 million people living in extreme poverty right now, with no means to prepare for winter. Home is not home for the 1.6 billion people living in insufficient shelter, or the 150 million people who are homeless. Home is not home for the 26 million refugees around the world, or the 45.7 million internally displaced peoples.
It's hard to stay safe at home if you have no home.
This winter, these defenceless people could be in more danger than ever before, lives are at risk.
