For many families, your support meant they could focus on spending precious time together

rather than worrying about how they would pay their next bill.

The Reality Facing Families

Secondary Breast Cancer doesn't just affect health.

It affects every aspect of family life.

Our patient survey highlighted the reality facing those we support.

• 97% said their diagnosis had significantly impacted their finances.

• 68% were no longer able to work because of their illness.

• 28% had been forced to reduce their working hours.

Many of our Winter Grants were used to pay:

• Utility bills

• Food shopping

• Travel to hospital appointments

• Rent and mortgage payments

• Everyday living costs

Behind every statistic is a family trying to navigate the unimaginable.

Supporting Those Most in Need

Our Winter Grant Programme is designed to support families experiencing the greatest financial

hardship.

Applicants are required to be receiving Universal Credit, ensuring every donation reaches

those living on the lowest incomes whilst managing the life-changing impact of Secondary

Breast Cancer.

This means every pound donated creates meaningful and measurable impact.

Lives Changed

Among the families supported were two young siblings who lost their mum to Secondary Breast

Cancer whilst still teenagers.

Following her death, their lives changed almost overnight. Despite overwhelming grief, financial

hardship and a lack of family support, they continued their education, found employment,

funded their own driving lessons and therapy and worked tirelessly to build the future their mum

would have wanted for them.

Another grant supported a teenage boy who lost his mum to Secondary Breast Cancer and is

now being raised by his grandmother. Like many grandparents unexpectedly becoming full-time

carers, she is doing everything she can to provide him with a safe and loving home whilst

managing on a limited income. The financial pressures of clothing a growing teenager, buying

school essentials and meeting everyday living costs have become increasingly difficult.

Your support helped ease that burden.

These are not isolated stories.

They represent the hidden reality faced by many families affected by Secondary Breast Cancer

children growing up without a parent, grandparents becoming unexpected carers and families

trying to survive on reduced incomes whilst coping with unimaginable loss.

The Difference You Made

Following the distribution of last year's Winter Grants, we received many heartfelt messages

from recipients. Everyone was a reminder that your sponsorship was about so much more than

funding an event it was about changing lives.

Here are just a few of those messages.

"Thank you so much for the Winter Grant. I don't really have the words to say just how much it

has helped and how grateful I am. Life is very hard at the moment with a lot of stress over

finances. The grant helps me ensure a wonderful Christmas for my 8-year-old daughter and will

also help towards the car bill after it broke down today. I'm not sure what I would have done if I

hadn't had it.

stressing over money, it makes it even more difficult.
