Visit the charity's profileWest Lothian Foodbank was started by Whitburn Pentecostal Church in November 2012, where a handful of volunteers provided support to 20 people in crisis in that first month. By March 2020, the foodbank had grown to having 7 paid staff, a warehouse and offices, 250 volunteers, 150 referral partner agencies, 11 distribution centres and a charity shop. In 7 & ½ years, they had provided a total of 299,754 meals to 33,306 people in crisis. Their range of services had also grown to include providing toys and toiletries at Christmas, prom dresses, suits for job interviews, work experience and training opportunities, as well as money skills courses. Since Covid began we have been providing 7-day packs providing a total of 305,256 meals to 14,536 people in crisis as well as providing fresh food items.
