Story
We’ve welcomed a young male capybara to the zoo…now we need your help to name him. This is your chance to be part of his story from the very beginning. By donating, you can suggest a name and help give him the perfect start in his new home.
💚 Why it matters
Capybara are native to South America’s wetlands, one of the most important ecosystems on the planet. Wetlands support an incredible range of wildlife and play a vital role in regulating water and supporting biodiversity. Through this campaign, we hope to raise awareness of these habitats, while your support helps us continue developing habitats and caring for our animals here at the zoo.
🐾 How to take part
For a suggested minimum donation of £3:
1. Make your donation.
2. Add your name suggestion to your donation message.
🌿 Need inspiration?
To celebrate the natural habitat, why not choose a name inspired by wetlands, rivers or the natural world? Think along the lines of water, wildlife, plants or places connected to these environments.
💡 Got more than one name idea?
If you’d like to suggest multiple names, please submit each name as a separate donation. This helps us make sure every entry is counted.
📣 Spread the word
Share this page with friends and family and let them know your suggested name, we’d love to see which ones get people talking!
🎁 Win a capybara prize
If the name you suggest is selected, you’ll be in with a chance to win a special prize. The winner will receive a capybara‑themed gift box and a ticket admitting four people to the zoo. The more names you enter, the more chances you have to win.
⚠️ A few important things to note:
The final name will be selected by the animal team. If multiple people suggest the same winning name, a winner will be chosen using a random prize draw.
We can’t wait to see your ideas. Thank you for helping us give this special new arrival a name and the very best start in his new home 💚
