Wonersh Playground Renewal

Organised by Wonersh Playground

Much of our playground equipment is too old to repair. Sadly, this has meant the removal of some favourite pieces. In all we've taken out 7 pieces of equipment. We're ready to replace but need help with funding. Will you help? Every little bit helps!

We are the voluntary playground committee first established 30 years ago and now in operation again to rejuvenate our village playground.

Story

Here are photos of some of the new equipment we are planning to purchase.

Wonersh is an very old village with many residents who have lived here all their lives. Some remember the area that became the 'playground' in the 1950's when it was a tangle of brambles and grass snakes. A local resident, Phyllis (that is all we know) donated some play equipment and the playground was born. More equipment was added in 1968, bought with £600 that was raised from local residents, organisations and the Parish Council. That equipment was then upgraded in the mid 1990's. Once again by local residents who held fund-raising teddy bear picnics and sing-alongs. Now, 30 years later we once again need to replace play equipment that is worn out or no longer regarded as safe by current standards. You can be part of the next generation of playground supporters, regardless of where you live, to help keep this valued local play space equipped for new generations of children and their families to enjoy. All are welcome and all donations most gratefully received.
