🎉 CELEBRATING A HUGE MILESTONE 🎉
Last night, Woodfield Equine Sanctuary (AKA Woodfield Animal Sanctuary) officially reached 50,000 followers on Facebook. ❤️
To many people, that may just look like a number on a screen.
But to us… it represents something far bigger.
Back in 2024, following the sudden passing of our founder, Robbie Bartington, we found ourselves at a huge crossroads.
Robbie had singlehandedly built Woodfield’s Facebook presence from 2013 right through to 2024, growing it to 19,000 followers through sheer passion, honesty and determination.
But the world of social media was evolving quickly.
Robbie was definitely a little old-school when it came to technology and social media… and if she was here now, she would probably be rolling her eyes at half the things we do online while secretly checking every post five minutes later. ❤️
After losing Robbie, we made the difficult decision to completely change our approach to social media.
At first, honestly… we panicked.
We actually lost followers in the beginning and questioned whether we were doing the right thing at all.
But over time, something incredible started to happen.
Woodfield’s social media evolved into far more than just somewhere to post updates.
It became a way for our supporters to truly be with us.
Not just in the happy moments and achievements, but also in the heartbreak, the mud, the rain, the sleepless nights and the difficult realities of rescue itself.
So we try to educate the public to the very best of our ability whilst carrying out the work itself in real time behind the scenes.
Not just the rescues and the happy endings… but the reality behind them too.
The rehabilitation.
The setbacks.
The sleepless nights.
The hard decisions.
And sometimes… not only life, but also death.
We believe there is almost a stigma surrounding death, as though it automatically means failure or something bad.
But the reality is that sometimes the kindest, most compassionate and most dignified thing we can do for an animal is to let them go peacefully when every possible avenue has been explored.
And believe us when we say… we try.
We fight for them with everything we have.
No avenue left unexplored.
No effort spared.
No giving up lightly.
But rescue is not always about keeping an animal alive at all costs.
Sometimes it is about preventing suffering.
Sometimes it is about dignity, peace and kindness in their final moments.
That side of rescue matters too.
And we believe supporters deserve to understand the full reality of the work we do here at Woodfield.
We truly believe we are one of very few sanctuaries in the country — if not THE only equine sanctuary — that shows supporters absolutely everything as it happens in real time behind the scenes.
The good.
The bad.
The beautiful.
And the devastating.
Because THIS is rescue.
In January 2026, we reached 26,000 followers and qualified for Facebook monetisation, meaning every like, comment, share and interaction now genuinely helps support the sanctuary financially too.
And now here we are…
50,000 people.
From 19,000 followers after Robbie’s passing…
to 50,000 today.
It has been an emotional rollercoaster over the last two years, but deep down we know Robbie would be incredibly proud of what Woodfield has become and where it is heading next.
And trust us…
We have some VERY exciting things planned for this year. 👀
Things we cannot wait to reveal when the time is right.
But none of this would be possible without YOU.
So today, to celebrate this milestone…
🟥 WE ARE LAUNCHING THE WOODFIELD ONE POUND CHALLENGE 🟥
We now have 50,000 supporters.
Just imagine what £1 each could do for the horses and ponies who desperately need us.
One pound may not feel like much alone.
But together?
It could change everything. ❤️
THANK YOU!
