Story
About the trip
The World Scout Jamboree is a global gathering of young people aged 14–17 and adult volunteers, bringing together tens of thousands of Scouts for ten days of activities, culture, and friendship. The next Jamboree takes place in Poland in 2027. It happens every four years, and because the youth age range is narrow, most young people are eligible for only one Jamboree in their lifetime—making this a truly unique opportunity.
Why attend a Jamboree
Life‑changing international experience. Participants meet peers from around the world, learn new languages, and build lasting friendships.
Skills and confidence. The programme focuses on leadership, teamwork, outdoor skills, and global citizenship.
Cultural exchange. Young people return with broader perspectives, improved communication skills, and stories that shape future choices.
Memories and achievement. For many, a Jamboree is a defining youth experience that stays with them for life.
Why this matters for Fenland
Fenland is one of the most deprived districts in the country, ranked 21 out of 55 on government measures of deprivation. Opportunities for young people are limited, and many families cannot afford the costs of international events. Sending five young people and one adult volunteer will not only give those individuals a rare chance to grow and represent their community, it will also showcase Fenland’s talent and resilience on a global stage.
How your donation helps beyond Fenland
Funds raised will cover travel, kit, and participation fees for our contingent. A portion of donations will also support Scouts in developing countries so that young people with fewer resources can attend the Jamboree too. That means your gift multiplies impact: it helps local youth and promotes global inclusion.
What a Jamboree is and how it is run
A Jamboree is a large, organised camp with a mix of programme zones, cultural events, ceremonies, and community projects. It is run predominantly by volunteers: adult leaders, unit teams, and the International Service Team (IST) give their time to plan, deliver safety, and create the programme. Volunteers handle logistics, run activities, and mentor youth participants—making the event possible through dedication rather than profit.
