The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileWhite Ribbon Day is an international campaign that raises awareness about violence against women and girls and enables men to show their support for womens right to live safely, without fear. In lieu of a street collection, Chester Women's Aid will host an interactive virtual event. The Stitch4Survivors community white ribbon length will be extended through an interactive "Knit-In".
The street collection raises much needed funds, enabling CWA to continue giving emergency grant aid. Families often take nothing with them when they flee domestic abuse. Chester Womens Aid is able to issue immediate financial aid to families, once they have been risk assessed by local service providers and reached a safe place, bridging the gap before statutory funds become available. There is a rapid increase in applications for this grant aid, so fundraising has become a major focus for CWA in recent months, and much more challenging without the possibility of holding our public events.
A recent recipient (name withheld to protect her from the perpetrator of the abuse ) said This grant means the world to me - its helped me and my son to be free! I cannot thank you enough for helping me in my time of need. I will now be able to start a new life just me and my son free from abuse and full of love. Thanks. Xxx
CWA hopes that attendees will learn more about Chester Women's Aid, our work, domestic abuse and support resources, and to continue to support our work, people will give generously.
