Story
Future Proof the Centre
Whiteley Woods Outdoor Activity Centre lies on the outskirts of Sheffield, close to the Peak District. Our Centre has worked with organised groups of young people for over 90 years since it's purchase by Girlguiding Sheffield. Girlguiding and Scout groups, along with early years, schools, colleges and other groups visit in their hundreds each year to enjoy a residential or day/evening visit and make the most of our green spaces.
Much of our site is based on the 300 year old, Grade II listed old stable block of the former Whiteley Wood Hall. This building needs a significant number of repairs to keep it safe and welcoming for our groups. Our wider site, including our pond used for water activities, needs constant maintenance.
Having raised an outstanding £41,000 to repair and renew the roof of our main building, we now turn to repairing and maintaining all our buildings and grounds.
The funds raised through this campaign support our ongoing programme of repairs and maintenance allowing our indoor spaces to continue to be safe and secure for our visitors, staff and equipment. Our work will also will continue our commitment to preserving our historic building which is of great historical significance to Sheffield. We also plan to continue to improve our outdoor space, including ensuring our pond remains fit for use for waterbased activities.
