Story
These are some of the Kuikuro indigenous fire brigade who are preparing to fight forest fires in the Xingu Indigenous Territory.
Last year fires set by neighbouring landowners ripped through their land, destroying miles of forest. This year they are determined to be prepared.

They have been training, and they have been equipping themselves for this year's burning season. If they can get to the fires early enough they can clear away the dry undergrowth to form a fire break and control the fires, using basic equipment - beaters, machetes, axes, backpack water tanks and protective equipment.

But to respond quickly and effectively as soon as a fire is discovered they need to be mobile, so we are raising money to provide them with a pick-up vehicle.
Please be generous. Time is short, and the odds are stacked against them. Brazil's government is doing nothing to save the forest and protect the people who live there, so it is left to the indigenous people themselves. They need your help - every penny of it.
