Story
This Valentine’s Day Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) Charity will be hosting a special event at Meadowhall Shopping Centre – putting the heart firmly at its centre.
Designed to raise vital funds for YAS Charity, which is a small NHS charity, the CPR-a-THON event will give staff and shoppers the chance to the learn the vital skill of hands-only CPR, empowering more people with the knowledge and confidence to save a life.
From 3pm on Friday, 13 February, for 24-hours, a core team of six volunteers from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust will perform round-the-clock chest compressions on manikins.
The YAS Charity believe that everyone should know how to respond appropriately in a medical emergency and funds projects across Yorkshire to help achieve this. These projects go over and above the work funded by the NHS. This includes providing life-saving CPR training to thousands of people across Yorkshire every year and placing life-saving defibrillators in partnership with communities across Yorkshire. They also go the extra mile for Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) staff and volunteers by supporting initiatives that benefit their health and wellbeing. This could be anything from a new bench in the sunshine at an Ambulance station, to sponsoring kit for a staff sports club, or supporting an event hosted by our staff networks.
