At Yeldall Manor, we believe in recovery from addiction through a process of change and restoration.

We work with men to support them as they explore restoring their connection with God, others, the world and themselves, help them to discover and develop healthy ways to meet their needs for security, significance and self-worth, addressing the patterns that sustain addiction; and support them to experience relief or healing for the wounds, pain and emotional distress that underly addiction.

In September, as part of the programme, we’re taking 15 of the guys from the Manor sailing! Working with the Cirdan Sailing Trust, the men will be sailing from Fambridge in Essex on the Queen Galadriel. The aim of the trip is to provide the guys with the opportunity to discover their capabilities and encourage them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. The experience will allow them to develop life skills, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, build resilience, improve communication and teamwork skills, as well as help to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

A sailing voyage takes people away from their usual surroundings and puts them into an environment where they must understand and accept authority, live and work as a team and be resilient – many of the same values and skills we encourage during their time in Yeldall. As the voyage progresses, they’ll learn to accept the disciplines and constraints of life on board a sailing vessel, and alongside their peers and fellow crew members face up to the challenges that produce positive outcomes. The experience will help give them the tools to progress and succeed in their future – and recovery.

The Cirdan Trust have generously reduced their normal costs for us, but to make the trip possible we need to raise a minimum of £1250, ideally £5,000 or more. We’re always so grateful for all your donations to Yeldall Manor’s programme, helping more men recover from addiction. If you feel able to contribute to this trip to help the guys who’ll be with us in September have this experience, we’d be very grateful indeed.
