Story
How your support helps:
For many of the young people and community members we support, the festive season can be an especially difficult time, often marked by separation from family or loved ones. With your help, we can bring warmth, joy, and a true sense of belonging to those who need it most.

You can make a real difference just by joining in – it’s that simple!

Here are some of the ways we hope to be able to support our people this year:
A Present for Everyone
This Christmas, we want our YMCA residents, YMCA Key College students and those Padley@YMCA Derbyshire to have a gift to open on Christmas Day.
Food Parcels
Through the Padley@YMCA Derbyshire Community Pantry, we’re providing vital food parcels to those who need them most - throughout this winter and into 2026.
This Christmas and beyond, we’ll also be ensuring that anyone in need can access our community café and kitchens, where they can enjoy warm, nutritious meals and cook alongside our colleagues and volunteers. Together, we’re helping people build confidence, learn essential cooking skills, and find comfort and connection over food.
Christmas Meals
On Christmas day we want to make a Christmas meal available to the 212 people who we accommodate and those in the community who would otherwise go without a warm meal.
Opportunities this Christmas and in to next year
Your generosity enables our youth and community teams to continue providing vital support to our young people, individuals and communities who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. Including therapeutic counselling, daily activities including sports, arts and crafts, horticulture, wellbeing, volunteer opportunities and work placements programmes all with the aim of supporting those we serve this Christmas and beyond and support them to move along their positive pathways and to belong, contribute and thrive.
