Children & Young People's Wellbeing Service

In a mental health crisis every minute counts. But in Devon, children wait months to get support. YMCA Exeter is inundated with referrals to our children and young people’s wellbeing service - we need more therapists.

We deliver community support initiatives, including a free Wellbeing Service for children, Forest Schools, rural youth clubs, and parenting support groups. By partnering with us, you're helping to transform lives, offer hope, and create lasting impact in Exeter and beyond.

Story

In a mental health crisis every minute counts. But in Devon, children wait on average over 4 months to get support. This is too long.

YMCA Exeter is inundated with referrals to our children and young people’s wellbeing service. But we need more therapists.

Our team of Wellbeing Practitioners use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques and goal-setting to build up emotional wellbeing and resilience in young people and their families.

"Our Wellbeing Practitioner was fantastic, so open and friendly. My Very shy 12-year-old completely trusted her and was able to fully open up and talk about her mental health.

"Our Wellbeing Practitioner's sunny disposition and empathy made a dark situation more manageable. She was relentless in her energy to listen, understand and find the right approach for our son"
