Care for the Carers is here so that no one is left to care alone. We are here for people who look after someone who can’t cope without them. We make sure carers’ voices are heard and provide the support they need. We provide: Advice/Info/Groups/Counselling/Young Carers support/Activities

Story

Olivia is nine. She lives with her nan and brother near Hailsham.

She loves to paint and play board games.

Olivia’s day doesn’t start with play – it starts with responsibility. She is woken up each morning by her four-year-old brother. She helps to make breakfast or to entertain her brother while Nan gets things sorted for the day. She then needs to get herself ready for school, check packed lunches and check Nan is fine for the day with the toddler. Then, she leaves for school.

Olivia is one of 8,000 young carers in East Sussex. For children like Olivia, summer doesn’t mean a carefree holiday. It means continuing to care for loved ones, every day, while their friends enjoy the break.

Can you help a young carer like Olivia to be a kid this summer?

“Going out with Young Carers is fun, I have a proper break, before I go back home to help Nan. No one asks questions what happened to our family, we are just kids who play”.

Care for the Carers depends on donations to be able to offer Young Carers holiday clubs and days out across East Sussex.

Our weekly sessions offer young carers a space to relax, play, and build friendships with others who understand their experiences. Being able to come to activities allows Olivia time with friends her age, to play and to be a kid, before she goes back to being a carer at home for her little brother.

Olivia attended activities in three holidays. When we met her we were struck how mature she was for her age. It’s great to see her being a nine year old again.

Can you be a young carers Hero? Your efforts and kindness will make a big difference to young carers across East Sussex.

Each holiday session’s impact is life-changing. Young carers like Olivia get a chance to play sports, make art with friends, enjoy cooking classes, and simply be children. In the school holidays, this respite is more vital than ever.

Help keep Young Carers Holiday clubs and outings running – help children like Olivia.

Your donation can make a real difference:

• £45 covers the cost of venue hire for one Young Carers session.

• £90 can help fund a picnic for young carers and their families.

• £100 would allow a young carer to experience a water sports day.

Olivia and thousands of young carers across East Sussex need your help.

Please give today and help give young carers a moment of childhood this summer!
