The Youth Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals supports young people aged 13-25 who are receiving care for a range of health needs.

By fostering positive relationships and encouraging engagement with healthcare and youth work staff, the service seeks to increase the resilience of young people, alongside improving their health and enhancing their overall wellbeing.

The goal is to make young people feel more comfortable and confident in accessing the support they need and to change their perception of hospital.

Illness and long-term health conditions often lead to isolation and emotional strain for young people, affecting their education, friendships, and mental health. For many, these challenges are lifelong, requiring resilience to maintain good health. Peer support is proven to be highly beneficial in these situations.

This fundraiser aims to provide the Youth Service with essential resources, support trips, and activities over a two-year period that will help young people in hospital build confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships with peers and staff.

The need for these resources has been identified by the young people themselves. The resources required to deliver the youth service fall outside statutory NHS funding and so every penny donated will have a huge impact on young people across the region.
