Story

One of Sikh Aid Internationals projects has reached an important milestone - we are delighted to announce that the construction of four sand dams in the dry lands of Makueni, Kenya has now been completed. A massive effort inspired by Sikh Aid International volunteers in collaboration with Midland International Aid Trust and Ramgarhia South C Gurdwara engaged the locals in building these sand dams in good time under the trusted supervision of General Kianga. Ongoing support and guidance of Dr Satya Sharma and Gurdeep Singh Flora ensured that all publicly donated funds were applied only and entirely to this particular project.

This charity project is an example of multi-faith teams joining together to support maintenance-free sustainable change that improves the quality of life for those in need. With this project, the residents of Makueni, Kenya are provided with employment and ownership in the building of sand dams that will provide potable water for their community and for generations to come, so that no-one in those dry lands need ever go thirsty or drink unclean water.

Sikh Aid International has several projects in development, including a commitment to begin construction in October of two more sand dams in East Africa and the delivery of training courses for Mental Health First Aid certification in the UK. All of SAIs activities are administrative-cost-free; 100% of publicly donated funds are applied directly to SAIs charitable projects.

In the future, water shortage may well be a challenge throughout the world, so thank you for your donations and support now in building more sand dams for those already in desperate need. In Swahili 'zaidi maji' means 'more water' hence our campaign name.
