Story

In 2017 we researched  the legal framework of FGM in our 28 focus countries. We were given significant pro-bono research support through a partnership with Reuters Foundation’s Trust Law initiative, four global law firms and local counsel in each African country.

This massive collaborative effort produced the data required to produce 28 Country Reports that map the legal framework and status of FGM in each of the African countries. This includes constitutional protections, international treaties and national legislation that give protection to women and girls at risk of FGM.

For the first time, these reports will show the legislative framework in an easy to understand way, highlighting the actual legal provisions and noting any loopholes. They will make recommendations for the formation of sound legal infrastructure that will contribute to the global elimination of FGM.

We now need to edit and publish each of these Country Reports, and make them available to activists and policy makers.

Please help us raise the £1000 we need to edit/publish the Guinea Country Report. This will help us access more gifted support from a global team of volunteers and partners.

Check out the 28 Too Many website for more information on FGM in Guinea and other African countries.
