Story
This winter we're launching the ‘My Right to a Future’ campaign to help disability activists in Tanzania make sure no child’s future is over before its begun.
Any gifts made towards this campaign between the 1 October and 31 December will be matched by our network of philanthropists, meaning that your support will go twice as far!
For millions of disabled children, it’s over before they’ve begun.
Everyone has the right to an education, a right to learn, a right to a future where they can make the best of the life they are born in to. For disabled children in Tanzania, exclusion from pre-primary education, means its over before they’ve begun.
Denying disabled children an education causes lifelong harm. Without an education, disabled children are deprived of the chance to learn, to thrive, to explore their talents, passions and possibilities, and to build futures filled with opportunity.
At ADD International, we understand it’s not just about getting individual children into school but about permanently changing the attitudes, and dismantling the barriers, that keep disabled children excluded in the first place. That’s why we work for a rights-based response to inclusive education.
In Tanzania, we partner with disability activists to tackle stigma, transform attitudes and support the right of every child to access an education. We work together to empower disabled children and their families to access an education; we work with teachers and schools to help them acquire the skills, tools, and resources needed to deliver inclusive environments, while activists mentor disabled pupils, and together we hold powerholders to account for prioritising financial resources and implementing policies for inclusive education.
If the campaign for global disability equality inspires and moves you, then we hope you will join us.
