Story
We're in the process of establishing our 1st of (we hope), of many foster placements for rescued rabbits to live until they find their new homes, thanks to the generosity and dedication of the owners of TASS (Tribe Animal Sanctuary Scotland) based in the Clyde Valley.
Here we are able to create a long term plan to accommodate and help more rabbits in need. We have purchased an 8x6ft playhouse shed and received a wonderful donation of 2x large Runaround connector pipes which safely allows the rabbits to explore their living area, giving them space to explore and behave naturally which will attach to a large secure run courtesy of Runabout Runs.
We now need to kit out the interior of the shed with flooring, insulation and other necessary items to provide a comfortable, safe and warm environment to live, thus exceeding the minimum housing welfare requirements for rabbits.
The set-up may seem elaborate, but it will provide not just a great temporary home for rescued rabbits until they are re-homed, but act also as a long term permanent fixture and educational facility. Having this set-up in situ with TASS, it will show visitors that rabbits NEED a large safe and secure environment in which to live whilst raising awareness into an area of companion animal neglect that many overlook. Too many people still perceive the hutch, or more 'modern' indoor accommodation, cages, as suitable.
Our planned accommodation will act as a flagship to the start of a new venture for our charity. We want to do more to help rabbits in need and by setting up a foster network we will be able to provide a more hands on practical approach.
We also have an Amazon Wishlist for another way to help.
Please consider helping our charity to do more to help our buns. Thank you.
