Visit the charity's profileWe have launched an emergency appeal to help 400,000 civilians trapped at the heart of a raging civil war. Al-Khair Foundation, a leading British Muslim charity, is spearheading an appeal to raise a £100,000 relief fund to provide humanitarian aid to the besieged area on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus. “The situation in Ghouta would break anyone’s heart. They are suffering unimaginable pain and the death toll is rising by the hour.” says Imam Qasim, chairman of the Foundation that delivers humanitarian support across the world.“They need us to provide a lifeline and they need it now. We encourage everyone to donate and to help us to save the lives of innocent families and children.”Children have been killed and dozens more injured in five days of attacks by warplanes while hundreds of civilians are trapped in makeshift shelters without food, water or medicine.“This is a desperate situation as people don’t even have the basic necessities to survive and, without our support, hundreds more will die,” But I am convinced that the public response will be strong and that we can use our expertise and networks to get the aid to where it is needed. ”Al-Khair, which already supports schools, hospitals and health centres in the area, is working with local charity Syria Relief to get food, water and medical supplies into the besieged areas.“We are committed to help the men, women and children under threat and to also supporting the amazingly brave medical staff and volunteers who are risking their lives to save others, A donation of £25 feeds a family of 6 twice for a day. £50 in cash vouchers deeds a family of six for two or three days while around £1,000 reinstates a basement for 20-50 families, Donors can also give £100 towards this. The cost of reinstating a basement for 20-50 families is around £1000. Donors can also give £100 towards shelters
