With record floodwaters devastating much of southeast Texas and into Louisiana, tens of thousands of people have needed emergency shelter and more than 450,000 will seek federal aid during recovery. When the Category 4 hurricane made landfall, it was the most powerful to hit the United States in a decade. Officials have called the catastrophic flooding the worst in the state’s history. Thousands have been rescued from flooded homes and cars and recovery will take years.    

The American Red Cross is on the ground now and will be there for weeks to come, working alongside partners to coordinate response efforts. They’ve launched a massive relief response to this devastating storm and need financial donations to be able to provide immediate and ongoing disaster relief.
