Zakat Ul Fitr
Organised by Ar-Rahmah TrustZakaat al-fitr is obligatory and like all other obligatory duties, each person is obliged to do it individually.
Story
Zakaat al-fitr must be given in the form of the people’s staple food, because of the report from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
- “At the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) we used to give on the day of (Eid) al-Fitr, a saa’ of foodstuff” [Bukhari]
- And Abu Sa’eed said: Our (staple) food was barley, raisins, dried yoghurt and dates. [Bukhari]
This is equivalent to approximately £3 per person.
