Story
The situation on Leros
Leros is a small Greek island in the eastern Aegean, which flew largely under the radar as the refugee crisis reached its peak in 2015. We have been working closely with the Leros Solidarity Network since 2015. This group of determined and tenacious individuals pioneered the response to the crisis on the island and continues to provide care and shelter to the most vulnerable refugees on the island. To put things into perspective, Leros is currently home to around 700 refugees which is almost 10% of the islands population.
What do we want to do?
Save the Children had a long presence on the island, however as has been common place with other large NGOs, has recently left. This now leaves a void in the supply of infant items- nappies, baby wipes, milk, buggies etc that they were previously funding. We want to be able to commit to Leros Solidarity Network to be able to fund infant supplies for the foreseeable future.
Imagine
Imagine for a minute how life must be like in a refugee camp for anyone, let alone for a family with young children. Being able to supply these items just lightens the burden slightly for these traumatised families. Making a donation will make a huge difference. We are entirely voluntary run so your donation will go straight to where its needed and have maximum positive impact.
