Astbury Mere Country Park is less than a mile from the town centre, run by a charitable trust and funded by donations. It's home to a variety of wild life and is used for activities including strolling through wildflower meadows with great views towards the Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands.

Story

The Visitor Centre Toilets have not been updated since the centre opened back in the 1990s, increasing numbers of visitors with over 250,000 forecast in 2017 is putting an ever increasing strain on them and they are becoming shabby and unreliable.  The Trust has looked into a complete refurbishment but this would lead to major disruption and would cost over £15,000, they have therefore decided to carry out a smaller update which will include:

- Fitting new cisterns where needed to reduce the high number of failures which cause the toilets to be closed.

- Replacing the damaged tiles.

- Fitting new radiators and more efficient electric hand dryers.

This is estimated to cost in the region of £2000 and the aim of this campaign is to raise the necessary funds.

To minimise disruption the Trust intends starting the remedial work in parallel with the fund raising so the improvements should be seen soon.
