Story

Autism Initiatives Ireland was set up in 2005.

We provide a broad range of services to include Community support (Outreach), Day Horizons, Respite and Residential. Our residential and Respite services are registered with HIQA and are fully compliant in all 18 Outcomes.

Our services are underpinned by a clear understanding of good autism practice. They are guided by a person centred approach which focuses on understanding the unique needs an individual may have in relation to their autism.

Our expectation is that people with Autism can learn and develop and we support this process every single day. We create unique services for people to enable them to have ownership of their own lives and future.

We work in partnership with people with autism, their families and professionals; enabling the people we support to become increasingly successful in daily activities through the development of their communication and thinking skills.

Staff, Parents, Siblings and Supporters of our charity are fundraising by partaking in Strictly Come Dancing for a very specific reason, this event is in support of our service users to purchase log cabins, our core objective is creating a therapeutic and holistic place for the service users and also providing them with sensory supports. It will also provide service users with a space where they can go to avail of time on their own or as part of a yoga and mindfulness group.

Each log cabin will be fitted with sensory items that will be tailored to meet the need of each individual service user thus encompassing our charities ethos and our values.

Strictly come dancing rehearsals started on 8th April 2018 initially involving group rehearsals for a period of two weeks.

There will be a launch night on the 27th April 2018 in Butler and Barry, Bray, Co.Wicklow where ticket sales will take place on the night and couples will be chosen.

Tickets for 8th June event in Parkview Hotel - €25
