Although much of the recent news has focused on the floods in Houston, South Asia is currently witnessing severe flooding which has caused widespread devastation and the loss of over 1,200 lives. In the north-east Indian state of Bihar alone, the death toll has already crossed 500 and 17 million people have been affected by the floods. NBJK, our partner in Bihar, is participating in local relief efforts and needs your help to reach out to those affected. Action Village India will be match funding all donations received. 

In partnership with several local organisations, NBJK is working to provide emergency relief materials to families in need who have lost most of their belongings and their livelihoods. These relief materials include food supplies as well as basic necessities such as candles, soap, and chlorine tablets to purify drinking water which has been contaminated by flood water. The materials will be transported from the state capital, Patna, to villages and relief camps in the areas badly affected by the floods. 

£18 will provide one family with a temporary shelter and chlorine tablets to purify drinking water

£20 will provide one family with vital food supplies, candles and matches, and soap 

£36.50 will provide one family with a complete set of the provisions they need for immediate relief
