Story

The Youth Orchestra of Ecuador, founded by Diego Carneiro, is a musical and social project, providing young people of different nationalities, talented musicians, a place to improve their technical skills through advanced studies of solo, chamber and symphonic repertoires, and to gain valuable stage experience. The orchestra constitutes a form of open, alternative learning.

The first concert was for the victims of the 2016 earthquake, during which a poetry recital was performed by ambassadors and prominent Ecuadorians. From that moment forward, several important concerts were held on various stages such as during Habitat III, the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development held in Quito, International Festival of Sacred Music, organized by the prestigious National Theater, in Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Switzerland, in the United Nations, Geneva, France, Germany and Holland.

The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador have declared Maestro Diego Carneiro and the Orchestra as Ambassadors of Tourism of the country for their work in favour of the country’s artistic culture.

During the European tour, the Orchestra received masterclasses with the Musikschule Paul Hindemith Neukölln and Jugendsinfonieorchester Schwerin (Youth orchestra of Schwerin). Several of our members have also received offers to study for their careers in international conservatories. The sustainability of the members of the Orchestra is really important for our development and it has become one of our priorities. Several of them have needs and disadvantaged backgrounds, so we ask for your help to allow them to keep playing and growing, to keep making music, to keep making what they love the most.
