In a quiet street near London Bridge lies Crossbones Graveyard, a long-forgotten and derelict paupers burial ground. Believed to be in use since Tudor times, there are an estimated15,000 people buried here.
The campaign to protect and preserve this important site was started over 10 years ago by The Friends of Crossbones with writer John Constable. Bankside Open Spaces Trust with the group has now been given permission by the landowner TFL to turn the site into beautiful public garden
The garden is not yet complete and BOST are still fundraising in order to open the site fully to the public, and to install more raised beds, planting, seating, pathways, artworks and fencing.
