Story

Bruce Turner was a well known and respected Uro-Oncology Nurse Consultant at the Homerton Hospital (London) and was the British Association of Urological Nurses (BAUN) Education lead for many years, he sadly died in 2016 after being given a terminal diagnosis of cancer.

Bruce was determined to continue his mission to educate and impassion Urological nurses and left instructions that a legacy should continue in his name.

The Inaugural Bruce Turner Award was awarded in November 2017 and delivered an annual prize that provides a fully funded place to the BAUN annual conference and appointment of an experienced practitioner who acts as a ‘buddy’ to support and mentor over a 12 month period.

To continue this legacy BAUN would like to embed an annual event to raise funds for this important mission.

About the charity

The British Association of Urological Nurses is committed to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of patient care by advancing education in urological nursing for the benefit of people with urology disease and the community as a whole.
