Story
In August 2015 a specialist team of volunteers from BDMLR and IFAW took just two days to free a humpback whale from fishing gear in Iceland, after rescue attempts by locals had failed over two weeks. You can read about the rescue here.
January 2016 and our volunteers have already rescued another entangled humpback in Scotland. Click here for the full story.
Unfortunately expensive equipment was wrecked in Iceland and although we have replaced some of the more vital kit, we still need to cover the costs. We're trusting the generosity of people like you inthe hope that we can continue to respond positively to calls.
Sadly we can't see an end to this sort of rescue, but one thing we are certain of is that if we can't keep our equipment in tip-top condition and replace any damaged items then our response wouldn't be as effective as it has been.
Our volunteers are incredible. Please support them and help ensure they have what they need to carry out this vital work. Thank you.
