Story
In 10 years we have re-homed nearly 500,000 hens. Many of our adopters have no previous experience of hens, but are driven by compassion to improve the lives of those otherwise destined for slaughter.
Sometimes hens can have problems just like cats, dogs and other furry friends. Whilst vet knowledge of backyard poultry is improving, we are still often the first port of call for help if an issue arises.
The more success in our re-homing activity, the more demand there is for our advice service. What was once an occasional enquiry has now become a steady stream through a range of media. We hope to improve our Advice Line; supporting people who help hens, and keep them as pets.
The funds raised will be used to support the activities of the BHWT including the Advice Line.
Whilst our knowledge is based on experience and anecdotal research, we cannot accept responsibility for advice given. If you are in any doubt about the health of your hen(s) you should also seek veterinary guidance.
