The British Hen Welfare Trust is a national charity which has re-homed more than 900,000 hens to date. The charity also educates the public about how they can make a difference to hen welfare, and encourages support for the British egg industry. Full information on our website at www.bhwt.org.uk.

Story

These gorgeous spring chickens were handmade by clever BHWT supporter Sue Van den Busken. Sue’s passion for chickens stems from her little flock of 14, six of which she re-homed from the charity. They’re one big happy family and, of course, are free ranging to their heart’s content.

She has already raised £915 to help hens by selling little stuffed chickens last Christmas and hand-warmers earlier this year.  Sue sells eggs and some of the proceeds go towards fabric and bric-a-brac for chicken fundraising projects. Sue said: “I am more than happy to help such a worthwhile cause…and I do love my chickens!” Well, that’s music to our ears!

We think her handmade chickens will brighten up any home and are the perfect anti-dote to a rainy spring day (they’ll look great in the sunshine too, when we get some!).

To order one please make a donation – we suggest about £7.50 per chicken – and email Corinne.Hendrie@bhwt.co.uk with your delivery address details. But hurry! We have a limited amount and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
