The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileLast May, 80 members of staff climbed on static cycles and pedalled furiously to celebrate international Trauma Survivor’s Day and raise funds for trauma research and recovery, raising a superb £2,500 in the process. On Wednesday 17 May 2017 the Centre for Trauma Sciences, After Trauma and Barts Charity will be hosting the second annual Cyclethon at the Stepney Way Entrance of RLH, coinciding with International Trauma Survivors Day.
But there's a twist...
This year we are adding a competitive element. A shiny trophy and bragging rights will be awarded to the individual covering the furthest distance over their half hour slot, the team that cycles the longest average distance and the team that raises the most sponsorship. Each cyclist can pick a team to ride for and compete for the 'coveted' Cyclethon Cup 2017!
The main purpose of day is of course to raise awareness of the high incidence of traumatic injury and the experiences of trauma survivors everywhere. It is also meant to shine a light on the incredible health care provided by staff at RLH and the role of multidisciplinary trauma teams in dramatically increasing survival rates in recent years. There is also the opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to sponsor riders or donate to teams, 100% of which will go to the Trauma Appeal managed by Barts Charity.
We'd love to double last year's total of £2,500!
If you can't ride then how about baking! There will be cake stalls selling delicious homemade cakes and biscuits. If you or any of your colleagues, friends or family are budding Mary Berry or Paul Hollywoods, then please contact zosia.czapska@bartshealth.nhs.uk
