The charity was set up to assist with the purchase of equipment and teaching aids for both ophthalmologists and their students, to enhance patient care and the treatment of eye disease in the Bradford & Airedale region.

Story

BAET is a registered charity, that has been set up to benefit those suffering from eye problems in the Bradford and Airedale area, and in particular 
  1. For the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases in the area.
  2. For research into diseases provided that all useful results of such research is published.
  3. The provision of equipment (not normally provided by the National Health Service) for the ophthalmic departments of both Bradford Teaching Hospital and Airedale Hospital.
  4. The provision of aids to visual aids for the blind and partially sighted.
  5. The education and training of students, Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, and Optometrists intending to specialise in Ophthalmology.
