Across the country, every 5 minutes someone is admitted to hospital due to a heart attack. Indeed, 25% of deaths in the UK are related to heart and circulatory diseases. That’s one in four of your workmates, your friends, your family.

In my early 40s I almost made up one of these statistics myself and things could have been very much worse without the research funded by the BHF, £4.8 million of which takes place right here in the North East.

2020 was the most challenging year of the BHF’s history, with its research budget being cut in half due to reductions in donated income. 2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the BHF. My vision is to bring companies who are at the Heart of the Tyne to help raise a significant sum, but also to prioritise heart health in the City.
