Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club (“CUWBC”) was founded in 1941 to compete against its Oxford counterpart in the women’s version of the annual University Boat Race.

Story

CUWBC has made some tremendous strides in the past few years, from the opening of the Ely boathouse, to moving to the Championship Course on the Tideway, to winning every race of the 2017 campaign! We are tremendously proud of these accomplishments, and they would not have been possible without every rower, coxswain, coach, parent, and supporter since our inaugural race in 1927.

Our current athletes face many of the same challenges that CUWBC athletes have for generations: the early alarms; the punishing kilometres; the piles of dirty kit; the mad dash to lectures; the hours of revision; and the incredible pressure of always pushing to be better — for yourself, for your teammates, and for Cambridge.

Newton's five year sponsorship of the Women's Boat Race put us on the Tideway and on equal footing with men's rowing, broadcasting a message of empowerment to women and girls around the world while raising the profile of women's rowing.

In order to build on our successes of the past few years, we are now asking for your support and engagement. The Boat Races preparations stop for no one. We want to give our athletes the best possible chance to beat Oxford.
